The Hemptress, a smart eco fashionable handbag company out of Los Angeles, launched this January with sustainability and eco mindfulness at it’s forefront. Hemptress is the design team of Håkan and Arlene Nilsson, an eco & fashion forward duo. The Nilsson’s helps you go green by offering bags made from hemp and recycled materials.

Their company was founded on fair trade values with careful attention to where each material is sourced right down to the recycled bonded leather trim, recycled nylon & metal zippers, low impact dyes and hemp label. Hemptress also offers a vegan collection, which has a hemp/RPET lining.

Their hangtags, business cards, and all collateral are printed on recycled paper with soy ink, and our shipping boxes are made from 100% post consumer waste. A portion of their profits are donated to animal rights group as well as Vote Hemp. So Haute.

Form and Fauna is a fair trade, cruelty free, hand made in the USA company. Bay Bertea, the designer of the line also incorporates recycled yoga mats into the of the shoes, giving props to her past as a yoga instructor.

For years now, I have loved the stylish vegan handbags of Matt & Nat. Each season, the bags just keep getting better–a bonus for anyone, man or woman who wants a great vegan & repurposed handbag. Depending on the size, 15-55 recycled plastic bottles go into the material used to make each bag.

Around $300, Matt & Nat bags can be purchased online or at department stores like Nordstroms, Fred Segal, Neiman Marcus, Saks and Bloomingdales.
Matt & Nat has lots of different designs for women and men – shoulder bags, clutches, weekend bags, computer bags, etc..

Nancy Dong, is the founder and designer of Kailia Footwear and Do-Ni. The footwear company’s are dedicated to making shoes that are stylish, wellmade, vegan and ecological/ethical.

The Kailia Label is high end, Italian made and super stylish…while Do-Ni is a project that is intended to share the retail profits with non-profits that are involed with helping animals, the environment, and those who are disadvantaged with no voice.

Currently Kailia is distributed in Paris, UK, Italy, Netherlands, Germany…recently introduced to the USA market. Soon will be available online–good news for me since I am swooning over all the styles. The DO-Ni flats are delicious!

Wonderfully designed ecologic products are always pouring out of BC Canada, and Sparrow Handbags is no exception. Sparrow Handbags an eco-friendly and cruelty-free accessory line makes each handbag of either of 100% organic cotton or hemp. The three year old company designs and manufactures handbags in house, silkscreening using 100% solvent free water based or low-impact dye. Each high quality bag is lined with a cotton/hemp black lining and organic cotton batting, bag bottoms are cut from recycled tetra boxes and handles are made using stiff hemp webbing. My personal favorite are the Lu’lu change purse bags and of course the sparrow logo!

Pure Bars are organic, vegan, raw and very delicious. Recently, I fell for the Organic Cherry Cashew bar–although the Apple Cinnamon is a close second. They are all sweetened with agave nectar–a sugar alternative great for diabetics. They fit many of my diet “try toos”–tons of omega 3′s, gluten free, dairy free, no refined sugar and no preservatives. Try some.

The creation of the company is an endearing story sparked by Veronica Bosgraaf’s support of her six year old daughters decision to become a vegetarian. Veronica wanted her daughter to get all her essential nutrients, so she started experimenting with recipes in her kitchen in Holland Michigan–thus Pure Bars was born.

yum! She does not mention the quantities, but I received a recipe from a friend and she used 1 medium to large onion, 1/2 pound of mushrooms (can be assorted), 3 T olive oil and one cup of walnuts. It’s as easy as pate!
