Today we live in a world where we are becoming more aware of our own wellness and longevity is thus increasing. Organic clothing is not only a healthier choice for little babies, but it also insures safety and health to our environment.

Organic clothes are manufactured from toxic-free materials. They are free from petrochemicals, flame retardants, heavy metals, and some other toxins that may be dangerous to the baby. Skin allergic reactions, asthma, poisoning, and cancer could be the health problems that are connected to conventionally grown plants such as cotton. Organic treatment to cotton plants including the use of manure fertilizers and crop rotation.

Areas within the near vicinity of conventionally sprayed production facilities get the worst of the environmental impacts but the residues of some of these chemicals may be rubbing off on your baby. Thinner baby’s skin absorbs toxins more easily and they are at a greater risk for pesticide-related health problems than adults.

Children in the U.S. receive up to 35 percent of their estimated lifetime dose of some carcinogenic pesticides by age five through food, contaminated drinking water, household use, and pesticide drift.

Conventionally produced cotton material lasts 10-20 washes before it starts to break down, but organic cotton material lasts for 100 washes or more before it begins to wear down. Conventionally produced cotton is put through the wringer during its production through scouring, bleaching, dying, softening, formaldehyde spray, and flame and soil retardants before it is even shipped to be cut for patterns.

Totally non-toxic, the Pebble Mattress has a breathable natural latex core and employs absolutely NO harsh chemicals or toxins in materials used, manufacturing process or in packaging.
Our Children’s Gorilla Our Children’s Gorilla was founded in 2002 to design and produce home accessories, children’s deco and toys. Their products encourage the use of imagination and creativity. OCG has an ever growing collection of environmentally friendly products, made out of carefully selected materials made by both large manufacturers and smaller companies that produce products by hand.

At their packing facility OCG works with people in rehabilitation programs on their way back into employment, some after years of unemployment due to dealing with diverse health issues and handicaps. When sourcing materials, OCG encourages and invests in the development of new materials that are environmentally friendly.

Popbar a brick and mortar popsicle bar located in the West Village is the answer to summer. Lucky New Yorkers have their choice of handcrafted, authentic gelato on a stick. Made fresh daily in-house using all-natural ingredients, popbars come in three yummy varieties: popGelato; popSorbetto; and popYogurt. These adult and kid-friendly freezes are preservative-free, made with 100% real fruit for a chill on the go.

If the 300 popbars on display don’t whet your appetite, you can create your own at their Custom Bar. A Popologists is on hand to dip, sprinkle, coat or double-dip the popbars of your desire. Because the West Villiage is their only location, I have been torturing myself by looking at their menu.

Popbar is located at 5 Carmine Street at 6th Ave.
