This eco-friendly dwelling includes rainwater collection, geothermal heating and cooling, air-to-air heat recovery, passive solar windows, and insulated exterior shutter doors that minimize nighttime heat loss. The house has two prefabricated boxes at either ends, which houses the kitchen and bathroom. Just above of them sits an 80 square-foot loft bedroom.
Thes interiors are made from CNC-cut Baltic birch plywood and the exterior rain screen and shutters are constructed from locally-grown white oak. Custom-made furniture inside can be transformed to accommodate eating, sleeping and socializing. This small model runs $60,000 to $150,000 US.
