mandy alderson: nature’s materials
The sculptural vases of Dutch artist Mandy Alderson are plant and animal materials. Alderson forms them into sculptural vases with a message of conservation: her skins are moulted from snakes or are the salmon skin waste from the food industry. The environmentally friendly tanned salmon skin retain their character and color.
Mandy believes it is important that the nature of the material remains visible. Her seaweed vase is made of algae is semi-transparent and displays beautiful colors when illuminated.
