kate mcguire: feather art
London based Kate McGuire uses pigeon feathers in her unique art forms. Feathers in great numbers create vivid pieces of artwork with painstaking assembly. McGuire's work possesses flow and movement and references Freud’s ‘Unheimliche’ (the uncanny, or, literally, the ‘unhomely’); the idea, to quote Freud, of ‘a place where the familiar can somehow excite fear’.
