d.i.y. wednesday: fairy architecture

For D.I.Y. Wednesday, these little doosies are arguably the cutest craft project that I have ever seen. The best thing you can do as a parent, caregiver, relative, etc. for children is to encourage their imagination. I think that building fairy habitat is a wonderfully creative endeavor for a Wednesday or whenever. A very simple undertaking too...gather the following ingredients (hopefully they will be readily available otherwise visit your local Ben Franklin or other craft store) and you are off for a little whimsical and magic project:

tree moss,

lichen,

birch bark or other bark,

dried flowers,

vein exposed leaves,

pussy willows,

pine cones,

acorns,

medium and small sized twigs, etc... (use your imagination)

craft store feathers, birds, teeny mushrooms.

Assemble using readily available materials like: teeny tiny nails, craft glue gun, stapler, crazy glue, carpenters glue, etc..

I think that this project is a fantastic bonding thing for father-daughter, and a nice substitute for the regular "doll house" project.

Once you have worked magic on a little elvish, fairy-like cottage or castle--the next step is creating fabulous furniture for your little sprites. These require most of the same materials, but can be greatly enhanced with felt linens and pillows. Felt would be a great upholstery material for fairy sofas, ottomans, chairs, etc. There is no limit to the amount of fairy magic that can take place.
