Hrafnhildur Arnardóttir was the hair designer behind Bjorks Album cover art, Medulla Type. Arnardóttir was inspired by a Victorian memory flower she had as a child.
Victorian Hair work was a popular pasttime during for creating keepsakes of mourning. Human hair was once a popular medium used in women's handiwork to create jewelry, watchbands, & floral mourning wreaths.
Victorian women loved to incorporate the importance of friends and family into their work, hair served as a tangible remembrance of someone. Companions exchanged hair as tokens of friendship and hair was sometimes taken after a person’s death as a means of honor and remembrance.
